Spring Forward.

I was watching some Spring Training highlights, and it just seemed to hit me how much I long for spring to come. The baseball, the picnics, the return of this thing called sunshine. On a deeper level, spring is a season all about life brought forth out of the soil, the mess, and manure of death. In a few weeks we’ll be celebrating the ultimate picture of life out of death through Christ’s sacrifice on the cross. Which might I add… I’m really excited about the approach of Easter at Fishers this year. Plans are in the works to have baptisms live at our campus this year…we’ve just got to find a pool, preferably with heat…which we will! I’m excited for the arrival of spring in the hearts of the countless newcomers who will come through the doors of our theater and find life in the midst of life’s manure. And that’s just it, spring is a reminder to us all that life is always possible out of death. In fact, the more the mess, the deeper the manure…the greater the opportunity there is for new life, new opportunities, new dreams and hopes. Spring reminds us that when we open up the soil of our lives to the seeds of God’s grace, forgiveness, and purpose…we find life again even in the most lifeless of places, relationships, circumstances. It’s important to note that it doesn’t just happen though…it all starts with the planting of a single seed…the seed of faith. Faith that in Christ change is possible. Faith that through Christ we have hope for the future. Faith that with Christ all things are possible. Personally and corporately may this be a season where we spring forward in our lives!
